Il progetto, realizzato in occasione Giochi Olimpici Sud Est  Asia svoltisi nel dicembre 2003, consiste nella  costruzione di uno stadio del nuoto per 3500 spettatori, composto da  due piscine olimpioniche da 50 m (una  indoor, per 2500 spettatori, ed una outdoor) ed una per  tuffi da 25 m (indoor, per 1000 spettatori), tutte conformi  alle norme FINA; l’impianto, pur dimensionato per eventi sportivi internazionali, è studiato per essere utilizzabile. anche parzialmente,  per le attività sportive locali.

The indoor swimming stadium in Hanoi has been designed to best represent and to meet the needs of the December 2003 Asian games in the most efficient way having respected the international norms.

This modern structure has the character of lightness, trasparence and relation betwen the outside landscape and the inside one. The image of the front recalls the shape and the profile of a “fish”.

-A large, covered lobby with a glass passageway capable of accommodating spectators, journalists, technicians and all other various personnel  who will then be separated via stair cases and lifts to seats,  stands, bars, restaurants, shops, media rooms, ect.

-An open view, looking out from the lobby balcony, of all public areas and services give the centre its lively, lived in nature all throughout   every day of the year.

-Three swimming pools have been planned, each able to function on its own, regardless of the others, for games and competitions, training and recreational use.

-Holding capacity of 5.700 spectators simultaneously during games and/or any other competitive activity.

The roofing systems of the swimming pools have been calculated with the scheme of spatial tubular steel-structures.
