Hung Yen city è stata individuata dal governo nazionale quale centro destinato ad accogliere una delle nuove citta’ universitarie  da realizzarsi entro il 2020.

La nuova struttura urbana occuperà circa 2000 ha, oggi a destinazione prevalentemente agricola e ricca di villaggi a carattere rurale.

Su  tale area Il tender board ha richiesto la progettazione  di 300 ha per nuove residenze e 700 ha a destinazione  universitaria comprensiva  di 15 facoltà, residenze per  studenti, professori e addetti.

Il carattere del progetto non dimentica la vocazione urbana  che lo stesso impone, sono quindi previsti spazi con  funzioni commerciali, terziarie e di intrattenimento, spazi pubblici e privati verdi, parchi urbani e corridoi ecologici.

La conservazione dei principali canali d’acqua quale risorsa  del territorio ha in qualche modo segnato e accompagnato il progetto verso una forma che segue in modo naturale l’andamento  dell’uso del suolo, ottimizzando gli aspetti ecologici e gestionali della  futura città universitaria.

The  planning  area  is  situated  in  the  Tien  Lu  district, part of the southern region of the Yen province, and is strategically located in the geographic center of the Red River Delta, about  60 km away from Hanoi.

Hung Yen city has a tradition of quality in schools and education and the new campus will transform this vocation into an excellence node within the Red River Delta region.

This area is covered by a grid of canals that part the land in a series of rice cultivations, water reservoirs and low density settlements.

The land has very slight slope direction from northwest to southeast so to keep the water system flowing in that direction.

The new design must be aware of the present characters in order to integrate then as a quality factor into the new design.

The Master Plan was developed through an  accurate design process, involving different competences and undertaking specific  levels  of  analysis. It  is  committed to provide a strategic framework  that  will  put  into  action  the  vision  as  stated by the envisioned charter “Subzone Planning Mission of Building Pho Hien University  Area  in  Hung  Yen Province”.

The proposal suggests to shift towards a new model, that we may label “campus as a city” intending to learn the lesson of the past, so to include the advantages of the already experimented models and to reshape them into a new dynamic form.
